So, finally back in TX. I really missed my apartment. And my bed. I’m glad to be home.
I’ve already begun studying for the algebra qualifying exam. I thought I might have trouble motivating myself to study this early in the summer, but so far so good. I’ve done some work every day since I’ve been back. I think the weight of the consequences of not passing this qual has been more than enough to motivate me. And I have a LONG way to go until I’m ready, so I’m happy to hit the ground running. I feel refreshed after some time away from school and math, both geographically and mentally, so I think I am finding it easier to get back into my passion for math since I’ve been away from it for a few weeks.
Also, I’m back to wanting to TeX everything. I’m trying to put $ symbols around everything and “par” at the end of all my paragraphs. Better than the stages I’ve gone through where I’ve tried to write everything in HTML or C++, I guess.
I have a feeling it’s going to be a fun summer, speckled with crazy graduate algebra proofs. Yay!
