Short update

Three weeks from today is Thanksgiving.

In five weeks I’ll be in Pennsylvania for my friend’s wedding.

In six weeks the semester will be over.

In seven and a half weeks it will be Christmas.

I can’t believe winter is so close.  Some days this time of year, Texas is its old self – yesterday it was close to 80 degrees and sunny.  But some days, like this morning, there is a chill in the air – 40 degrees before the sun comes up.  Cold days always put a little sadness in my heart.  So, I hope it’s warmer later when the sun comes up.

I am so excited to travel at the end of the semester.  Being so far from home makes going back that much more exciting.  I mean, it’s still only southwestern Pennsylvania so without concrete plans it gets boring really fast, but I have a lot of concrete plans for my December visits so I’m looking forward to all of that (but I don’t have so much scheduled that it’s going to be stressful to get it all done).

The end of the semester itself scares me (so much work to do before then!) but in general, I’m happy and life is good right now.  I have a lot to look forward to, and a lot that I’ve accomplished (in recent and not-so-recent history) to look back on fondly.  And school is relatively low stress right now.

Anyway, I’m spending my most productive hours (7-9AM, when I’m in my office every morning before anyone else gets to school so I’m not distracted and free to work) writing when I should be working.  It’s about time I write some lectures about logarithms!
