{"id":84,"date":"2016-08-14T19:28:49","date_gmt":"2016-08-14T19:28:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thisimpliesthat.com\/recipes\/?p=84"},"modified":"2016-08-14T19:28:49","modified_gmt":"2016-08-14T19:28:49","slug":"homemade-chili","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thisimpliesthat.com\/recipes\/homemade-chili\/","title":{"rendered":"Homemade Chili"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Ingredients<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>1 (14.5 ounce) can stewed tomatoes, chopped<\/li>\n<li>1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste<\/li>\n<li>1 carrot, sliced<\/li>\n<li>1 onion, chopped<\/li>\n<li>2 stalks celery, chopped<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup white wine<\/li>\n<li>1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup chopped green bell pepper<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup chopped red bell pepper<\/li>\n<li>1\/3 cup bottled steak sauce<\/li>\n<li>5 slices bacon<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 pounds ground beef<\/li>\n<li>1 (1.25 ounce) package\u00a0chili\u00a0seasoning mix<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon ground cumin<\/li>\n<li>1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Instructions<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>In a large pot over medium-low heat, combine tomatoes, tomato paste, carrot, onion, celery, wine, pepper flakes, bell peppers and steak sauce.<\/li>\n<li>While tomato mixture is simmering, in a large skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp. Remove to paper towels. Cook beef in bacon drippings until brown; drain. Stir chili\u00a0seasoning into ground beef.<\/li>\n<li>Stir seasoned beef, cumin and bacon into tomato mixture. Continue to simmer until vegetables are tender and flavors are well blended.<\/li>\n<li>Stir in beans, cilantro and parsley.
